Remember When

MetsGeek re-branded itself as RaysGeek?  In light of the Mets upcoming series against the Rays, Chris Gaine over at Amazin' Avenue has an article up about past Mets-Rays series.  R.A. Dickey's 1-hitter against them in 2012 was certainly memorable -- the Mets appealed to the League to have that one hit ruled after the fact into an error on David Wright.  Unsuccessfully, obviously.

8 Years Later

Here's the same chart as the one from yesterday, with the playoff odds for the NL East this year, instead of from 2007.  It's funny, eight years ago I had to make the chart myself by copy and pasting data from BP into an excel spreadsheetl; these days it's all done for you already.  You can download a JPEG with a single click.

What a time to be alive!

At this point, the Mets and Nats chances of making the playoffs are basically mirror images of each other.  It's pretty unlikely that either one of these teams gets a Wildcard spot, and the other three teams in the division are basically totally out of it.

I'm Back, Baby!

The Mets are in first place this late in the year for the first time since 2008, essentially the last time I posted one of these things.  Sabermetrics!  fWAR!  rWAR!  Those are real things, jerks!

I wonder if this thing will even work?  Let's find out!
